November 13, 2006 FCMTA Meeting Minutes
1st Order of Business, Mary Marks, President, opened the meeting with approximately 16 present. She welcomed new members & guests and recognized Sue Perkins and the return of Ann Williams.
2nd Order of Business concerned the "Piano Festival" last Saturday November 11. A few problems - no master list available, but it all came together. Certificates were completed. Thanks to Renae who spent several late hours typing up the lists, but had to use first names and last initials instead of last names. Checks for the judges were unavailable and needs to be corrected for next time. The end of the day "Festival Recital" was very good with a number of winners and Bill Popp, President of the Loveland organization presided over the concert. The event seemed to have more Fort Collins teachers than Loveland teachers on hand which makes sense with the location and several teachers being out of town for the weekend. A meeting will be held to sight any improvements needed. The general thoughts expressed especially by the judges, was that the "Piano Festival" was an event having good musically high standards. Two judges in particular mentioned the following: "Well organized & impressed with the high quality of music and pieces played." Each performance at the "Piano Festival" Concert ended with the winners receiving a trophy.
3rd Order of Business: Did everyone receive their minutes by e-mail or "snail mail?" One teacher did not. Do we have any additions or corrections to the minutes? None were given.
4th Order of Business: Did everyone receive their Colorado Notes, News & Directories? Some did not. Next Conference for the State in June is at Silvercreek. Note it will be the same time as SPA. A letter received mentioned the following fees: SPA 2007 Fees Artist $45 Honor $30 Chamber $40 per ensemble
Conference Fees: early $75 late $100 per members
NOTE: If going to MTA Toronto Conference register early and get your passport because it is required now to enter Canada.
5th Order of Business: Treasurer's Report by Susan Synderman
New Members: Renewed - Anne Williams New Members: Adina Woodward & Karen Wilkey - Piano Theory & Pedagogy
"Festival" expenses yet to be determined. No bill received yet.
Further Details & Information: See Treasurer's Report.
6th Order of Business: CHRISTMAS TEA - invitations handed out - to be held at Mary Ann Ranney's home at 1026 Harbor Walk Ct Ft Collins 80525 on SUNDAY DECEMBER 10 3 P.M. For more information call Veronica Lim at 377-0642 or Susan Snyderman at 204-9219. Victori Loran & William Popp will be performing on violin and piano "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Retired teachers are also being invited as well as prospective members and others. This tea will also expand to be a fundraiser for a very worthy student.
Note: Cynthia Alvarez, a wonderful student, has been selected for Master Classes and to go to Europe. Her need is to raise $5,000 for this once in a lifetime opportunity for this outstanding student. She will be presenting a short 3 minute piece at the tea. We would like for many others to attend and to spread the invitation by taking extras with you. A suggested donation project would be to get your students to donate $1 for this great cause.
7th Order of Business: CHRISTMAS PLAY-A-THON Sunday 12:30 p.m. through 4:30 p.m. Dec 17 at "The Square" Mall. Nikki coordinated this event with Kelly at Natural Piano Store. A fine upright piano will be provided. It was decided by discussion of the group that any instrument, as well as voice students, along with the piano may perform. Debbie Orwick is presently in charge of this event and all teachers who have not signed up for a 15 minute to 30 minute slot will be contacted via e-mail. If you have only 1 or 2 students and would like to share a spot with someone else, please let her know. WHERE the piano will be placed is up to Natural Piano and the Mall Directors. A microphone and hook ups, etc. will need to be acquired for other instruments and vocalists. Please designate WHICH instrument or voice your student will be performing. Discussion of a FCMTA Sign in order to acquire one or have one made was done. Checking with Natural Piano about their advertising and coordinating it with Kelly at Natural will be good and carried out by Debbie Orwick.
8th Order of Business: Achievement Day - there is not a chairman, so the Board will be acting chairman of the Achievement Day activities. A sign up sheet was once again passed around for volunteers in particular areas of need.
Paulette Johnson Reported on Achievement Day and passed out the teacher packets needed for this day as well as answering several questions. State directory gives the Achievement Day purposes and see your Activities Handbook for more information. The packet includes a front & back sheet for parents of students and these should be given out soon. Since no one is willing to be in charge of the purchase of T-Shirts and unless someone decides to step forward on this one, there probably will not be any t-shirts this year. Recommended and suggested by the Board is that the Theme of Achievement Day would be the 3 B's aka Bach-Beethoven-Brahms
Mary Marks asked for a vote. The motion was given by Cheryl and seconded by Allison. The theme was passed.
At the JANUARY 15 FCMTA Meeting the Tally Sheets will be ready and teachers will be given their blue & yellow sheets. The DEADLINE for the sheets & money will be JANUARY 22. Scheduling will begin on the computer with Vanessa and Carrie.
A sign up sheet is going around for workers and we will be paying a few listeners to come in 1/2 day. Please ask your older reliable students to help be mentors and work for Achievement Day. There will be a detailed discussion about what happens in the Listening Rooms. Tina will head our game room again. We will once more have Art Work. Debbie will head our Theory Room. Two books are in the Library at Nikki's as study guides to the Theory Tests. Debbie has agreed to pick up the state theory tests from Mary Marks and coordinate all the copying, etc. according to the Broad's decision. The Board will discuss whether or not the teachers will receive actual copies of the actual tests. Many discussed desiring to see the actual tests before Achievement Day. It was suggested to purchase books from Bill Popp. Note all the money received for the study guides goes to the state. Veronica will look into bringing some of the Theory Study Guides to the December Christmas Tea for teachers to purchase without Bill Popp having to pay for postage.
9th Order of Business: Keyboard Companion magazine for $20 if at least 5 teachers purchase. Signup, give check to Paulette or mail check to her as soon as possible. Deadline for purchasing this magazine is January 10th.
Mary Marks asked if there was any Old or New Business to be discussed.
#1 - Intermediate/Advanced Recitals - SEND YOUR STUDENTS. One recital is coming up on Friday. Last recitals' programs were passed out for viewing.
Don't forget about Loveland's Orchestra and Concerto Competition coming up soon.
MEETING ADJOURNED
PROGRAM: Dr. Renae Jones is a seasoned entertainer as Jalapena the Clown, a psychologist, educator & professional clown. She has an HBO Special on Showtime & Cinemax and calls herself a "laugh healer." Through games, demonstrations, lecture and handouts, we were shown how important humor & laughter can be for all of us and the healing, helping properties that go along with it as well as how we might make humor a part of our teaching tools and inside our studios. Renae was enjoyed by all who attended.
Respectively submitted by,
Debbie Orwick, FCMTA Member
NOVEMBER PROGRAM: Jest For The Health Of It will be presented by Renee Cohn-Jones. Hostess for this meeting is Carrie Hansen and co-hosted by Sidney Thompson. For directions, call Carrie at 377-0674.
FALL FESTIVAL is coming up Nov. 11, 2006 at the "old" Music Building on the Oval at CSU. The scheduling committee has asked all participating teachers to inform students to be at your designated room 15-20 minutes ahead of your performance time and be prepared for the schedule to run ahead or behind. Practice rooms will be available for warmup. Ushers will be on hand to direct you.

RE: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT DAY TESTS: Following is a correspondence from Jill Hanrahan regarding teacher access to the new Students Achivement Day tests. I hope all members will consider this new option as discussed/accepted at a recent CSMTA Board meeting.
"Carol DuBe is now Ach Day chair, but since I responded to your recent email about test copies, I wanted to let you know a suggestion was made at the Board meeting which supports student preparation and maintains the integrity of the tests.
We discussed the issue of associations passing out Achievement Day tests to members. After some discussion, it was suggested that if associations want to make the tests available to members, they can write "For Teacher Use Only" on a set and reduce pages to a smaller size so there won't be so many to copy. It will be up to each local association to figure out if and how they want to handle this with respect to costs and distribution to members.
I hope that having copies of the tests, along with the CSMTA Theory Guides will give the best support possible to teachers as they prepare their students for Ach Day. Please send any future suggestions or corrections to Carol DuBe.
Thank you for holding an Achievement Day for your students!"
Jill Hanrahan, NCTM"

DID YOU KNOW? that Dr. William Westney, author of The Perfect Wrong Note will be in Denver Nov. 4 and 5, giving private lessons? I am lucky enough to have reserved a spot this time around but let's hope this is the first of regular visits. Perhaps more members state-wide will be able to benefit from this master teacher.

Following are the minutes for the Oct. meeting.
Fort Collins Music Teacher's Association
General Membership Meeting
October 2, 2006
The meeting was called to order by President Marks at Trinity Lutheran Church following the program "The Poet SpeaksAbout Music & Art" with Caroline Orman and colleagues.
There were two corrections to the September minutes, as follows: Paragraph five should read "Sidney Thompson reported that the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra Young Artist auditions have been switched from March to June for this coming year. Paragraph twenty should begin "The Loveland Friends of Chamber Music has invited us to participate."
Susan Snyderman read a thank-you note received from Mary Rudy, expressing gratitude for the wedding card and gift. Susan then gave the treasurer's report.
Mary Marks reported that the Halloween Party will be held at Natural Piano Center on October 28 and 29. There will be two parties each day, each at 1:00 and 3:00 P.M. Mary distributed sign-up sheets which are due back to her by October 16. Mary has asked that teachers indicate on the sign-up sheets any times that students canNOT attend, to assist her with scheduling.
The Christmas Play-a-thon will be chaired by Nikki Tsuchiya. A co-chair is needed. Nikki is unable to attend if the play-a-thon is held December 10. Discussion followed as to whether we should change the date to December 17. Mary Rudy moved that the date be December 17, seconded by Veronica Lim. Motion carried. The December 17 date may provide more shopper traffic, as it is closer to Christmas, and Nikki can be present that day. Natural Piano Center will provide a large studio upright for the play-a-thon, to be placed in Foothills Square. Teachers may sign up for fifteen minute increments of playing time, and are allowed thirty minutes total. The total time allotted is 12:30 to 4:30 P.M.
Veronica Lim suggested that we invite Bill Popp and Vickie Loran to play at a tea for new members of FCMTA. Bill and Vickie are preparing for a February performance of works for violin and piano. Veronica volunteered to chair the event, to be held at the home of Mary Ann Ranney on December 10 from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. FCMTA retired teachers also will be invited to attend. The tea will be co-chaired by Susan Snyderman and Veronica Lim.
STAD is still in need of chair and co-chair. Carrie Hansen agreed to chair the scheduling, Paulette Johnson will copy packets of STAD forms, which will be available to members at the December tea. Discussion was held as to the possibility of a committee dividing each responsibility of STAD. Sidney Thompson requested that this year's STAD theme be of a musical nature, possibly a specific composer. The FCMTA board will meet to decide STAD deadlines. Mary Ann Ranney agreed to copy STAD theory tests if someone else will give her the totals needed for each level. Discussion followed regarding whether or not the actual theory tests should be in the FCMTA library, or whether we should prepare practice tests which have similar questions on them. Bill Popp has prepared a set of Music Theory Handbooks which are now available to us. The actual theory tests will be based on what is contained in these handbooks. Sidney Thompson moved that two copies each of Bill Popp's Teacher Syllabus and Student Study Guide be in our library. Mary Rudy seconded the motion. Motion carried. If teachers wish to purchase their own copies, they can call Bill Popp at 667-4524 or email him at wepjsp@aol.com.
The FCMTA/LAMTA Fall Festival scheduling meeting will be October 20 at the home of Mary Ann Ranney. Festival applications are due to Mary Ann by October 11.
The first meeting of the teacher's discussion group will be held October 9, 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the studio of Mary Rudy. Works by Maykapar will be discussed.
Sidney Thompson reported that eight students played September 29 at the Intermediate and Advanced Recital. The next recital is October 27. Please join us!
Paulette Johnson reported that the November 13 program topic is "Just for the Health of It" presented by Renee Cohn-Jones. The meeting will be held at the home of Carrie Hansen with Sidney Thompson serving as co-hostess.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary G. Rudy, Secretary

A letter was read from Linda Sommer, president of the Greeley association, inviting us to their 40th anniversary celebration. It will be held on September 24, 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. in Ed Beatty Hall on the UNC campus. Refreshments will be served and students will be performing.

This year's yearbooks were distributed to members in attendance. Some committee vacancies were noted.
Nikki Tsuchiya volunteered to chair the Christmas play-a-thon; a co-chair is still needed. The play-a-thon location may change this year in order that we have a better piano. We discussed holding it in Foothills Square and using a piano from Natural Piano Center.
Sidney Thompson announced the teacher discussion groups will be held again this year, one topic in the fall and one in April. The fall groups will be held Monday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 18 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. The composer for fall is Maykapar, and six copies of Maykapar books are being held at Boomer Music, each selling for $4.95. The fall location will be determined by Sidney, and she will call those who have expressed interest in attending.
Sidney Thompson also announced this year's intermediate and advanced recitals will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church. Seven Friday evenings at 7:15 have been reserved, and sign-up sheets were distributed. Each performer pays $3.00, and we pay the church $25.00 for each recital. Teachers need to give Sidney the performers' information and the fee on the Monday prior to each recital.
The FCMTA/LAMTA Festival location is at CSU in the music building to be held November 11. Correction to yearbook: Festival committee members are Mary Ann Ranney and Mary Marks; Aliza Auyeung and Sidney Thompson are not committee members.
Mary Marks announced that Joel Bacon, CSU organ professor, will present two concerts on Halloween, October 31, at CSU. Times will be announced.
A suggestion was made that we hold a luncheon for all members and do scrapbook pages at that time. A date will be determined and announced as to when this will be scheduled.
Nikki Tsuchiya reported that she will continue as newsletter chair if no one else wishes to take over. She added that the next person could choose to do a written newsletter rather than internet, if they prefer.
A publicity chairperson is needed, as well as STAD chair and co-chair. Carrie Hansen can assist with STAD, but is now music director at Plymouth Congregational Church. Mary Marks volunteered to be food chair for STAD. Game Room chair, set-up and close-up chairs are needed. Aliza Auyeung will chair student compositions for STAD.
Veronica Lim presented the new theory books prepared by Bill Popp of Loveland. A Teacher Syllabus and a Student Study Guide, two separate books, are available to prepare students for SPA and STAD. Members can contact Veronica if they wish to buy the books. Nikki Tsuchiya requested that theory tests be available in the FCMTA library. Discussion was held as to whether actual tests should be available to teachers. A vote will be held at the next meeting to decide this.
The October meeting will be on Monday, October 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church. This will be a joint meeting with LAMTA. The program will be "The Poet SpeaksAbout Music & Art" with Caroline Orman and colleagues. A short business meeting will follow the program.
The Loveland Chamber Orchestra has invited us to participate again in having students perform with a string quartet. Two rehearsals are scheduled, December 2 and January 4, 2007, with performance on January 13. Information sheets were distributed.

#1-Addendum to the minutes: CSU is in need of accompanists. Members can contact Joel Bacon in the music department if interested. Accompanists are paid by the hour.
#2-Addendum to the minutes: At the September meeting, during the program, Sidney Thompson noted that the Association of the Year award was given to the Boulder MTA at the CSMTA convention. She realized, in listening to their many accomplishments, that we do many great things here, also. Not that our goal should be winning that award, but why not be inspired to reach one notch higher in all the things we do? Let's try to have ten teachers enter students in the Intermediate and Advanced recitals this year, rather than only nine. Let's see if STAD can be a bit bigger and better, etc.
SEPTEMBER MEETING: Sept. 11: 930 am at the home of Nancy Clegern, 3611 Terry Point Dr.
PROGRAM: Mary McCartney Rudy will lead a discussion of the CSMTA Conference in Boulder (June '06) with Mary Marks and Ronnie Lim. Program will be followed by a potluck luncheon. Please bring a salad or dessert and plan to stay for good food and fellowship.
DIRECTIONS: Go north on Shields, College, or Lemay. If you go down College, you will need to go right at the "Y" intersection and get on Hwy. 1. Lemay ends at Hwy. 1. At Douglas Rd., turn left if coming down Hwy. 1 or right if you are coming down Shields. Next, turn south on Swan Lane, then an immediate left on to Terry Point Dr. You may park in the parking bays near the bank of mailboxes and long driveway. If it's full, drive on around the curve to the back side of the house and park anywhere on the street. The house # is on both the front and back side of the house. It is the fourth house from the corner. Call 484-9441 if you get lost.

Dear Fellow Members of FCMTA: I am excited that Bill Popp has now completed, and is making available to us, the new CSMTA Student Study Guide for music theory. It may be used as a single-volume text or with a variety of other teaching media."
Prices are: $8.00 plus shipping for the Study Guide
$5.00 plus shipping for the Teacher Syllabus
To obtain a copy, you can either contact William Popp directly, or give me a check for him and I will pick up your order for you and save you the shipping cost. If you do order directly, Bill's phone number in Loveland is 667-4524. His E-mail is Wepjsp@aol.com.
See you at the meeting on Sept. 11!

A TRUE STORY FROM BOLIVIA: From Bolivia comes this extraordinary story of the power of music and the difference one dedicated musician can make. El Alto is a sprawling city where the poorest of the poor dwell, just outside La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. The concertmaster of the National Orchestra of Bolivia (La Paz) wanted to do something to help the residents of El Alto. He decided to start an orchestra there.
When he talked about his idea, everyone laughed and said it was impossible. But he had a plan. He went to the central plaza in El Alto and played his violin. After a while, he took along a young student of his and they both played. Finally, they took along a notebook and announced free lessons for interested folks. The sign-up line snaked down the street for several blocks.
At first, he and his colleagues taught for free. Soon the city caught wind of their project and began to reimburse the teachers and bought instruments, which were stored in city hall. An impossible dream was being realized when disaster struck. About two years ago, during a period of political upheaval, city hall and everything in it was burned to the ground. El Alto orchestra members were seen running in to the burning building to try to save their beloved instruments, a measure of what music had come to mean in their lives...
Footage of this was picked up by CNN and other international news organizations. The governments of Germany, Italy, Japan and others donated both instruments and funding to get the orchestra back on its feet. Like a phoenix, El Alto's orchestra rose from the ashes and is once again, making music amidst grinding poverty. I cannot tell this story without choking back tears. I hope it will inspire all of us as members to re-evaluate the meaning of music in our lives and in the lives of the students we teach. I hope you will consider how you can contribute by getting involved in our organization as our president has encouraged us to do. Let's have a great year!

MARCH MEETING: Join us this month for a special joint program with LAMTA! We will be treated to a concert of Latin music by Dr. Alejandro Cremaschi. This program is on WEDNESDAY, March 8th at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Loveland (2500 N Garfield St). The program will start promptly at 10AM. We will not have a business meeting that day. Also plan to stay after the concert for a potluck with LAMTA. Please bring a potluck dish to share. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM JUDY JOHNSON OF LAMTA
This is definitely a program you'll not want to miss. Dr. Alejandro Cremaschi, from the University of Colorado will present a program on the Music of Latin America. It will feature a piano performance and a power point presentation. This is a joint meeting for the Loveland and Fort Collins Music Teachers and will be followed by a pot-luck luncheon. Please bring your favorite dish. You may want to invite your students and their families to attend the program. There is plenty of room.
Dr. Cremaschi's hometown is Mendoza, Argentina. His education includes Licenciado en Piano from the National University of Cuyo. BA in piano performance from U of Maryland Baltimore County, MM and DMA in piano from the U. of Minnesota. He has a love for music performance and for teaching. "I've been always very interested in how people learn and figuring out better ways to teach. I am the oldest of 5 siblings, so I had a chance to "teach" all my siblings to do things even as a young child!" When asked about his favorite composer/musician he said, "This is a hard question to answer. I admire many composers and musicians for different reasons... Mozart for his gracefulness and gorgeous melodies, Schumann for his spontaneity, Brahms for his depth, Ginastera for his energy, and of course because he uses motives from the folk music of my country! I could go on and on..." His favorite vacation destination? "I have to say ... Mexico. My wife is from there (Guadalajara), and we go there in December. We try to visit a new place every time. Fascinating country with a lot of history, traditions, beautiful beaches and gorgeous nature." His favorite color is green?? I asked him what he would like us to know before he comes. "The program is about music of Latin America at the intermediate level that teachers can get in the US. I tried to pick pieces that would be attractive to both teachers, students and parents, and that represent different countries and styles. Much of it is based on folk elements from Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. I play some of this repertoire regularly and have recorded some of the pieces."
PRESIDENT'S CORNER: Three Cheers! We did it again! It was a great event and you all helped make Achievement Day a big success! Thank you all for helping and for preparing your students to participate. Special thanks go to Neil Johnson, Paulette's husband, for picking up the food from Albertson's and being available to carry things in and out. I have the two alphabetical file boxes at my house. If you have a student who for good reason needs to play later for another teacher, contact me for their certificates. Also contact me to take care if any calligraphy corrections.

FCMTA/MTNA KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT Help your fellow music professional and clean out your studio at the same time! Please bring items to the March meeting and give then to Mary McCartney who is coordinating this effort. If you cannot come to the meeting, please drop off all suitable materials to Mary by March 8, 2006. The top donor will be awarded a Mozart item from this year's STAD. Your help will be appreciated!

STAD RECAP...one of my thoughts was to request any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, notes etc that you could put on paper that will help in planning STAD 2007 while it is still fresh in your minds. Thank you so much for all the work put into this day. From the comments I heard it was very successful. I will be out of town for the March meeting and Carrie sounded like she might not be there also, so we will plan to give a full report at the April meeting and your reports will help with that. If you have bills for Susan please get them to her so she can have a STAD financial report for the April meeting. Thanks again,

If you would like to place additional orders, please contact me by phone (225-1679) or email (nikkeitsu@msn.com) by March 5. CSMTA CONFERENCE will be held in the Warner Imig Music Building at the University of Colorado in Boulder starting Wednesday afternoon, May 31 through Friday, noon, June 2 and plan to go and stay for the local Association luncheon at noon. Let's plan to have a full table from Fort Collins at the luncheon instead of just one, two, or maybe three of us. To quote our state president, Kitty Keim, "You have to get out of your studio and your classroom to experience wider fields of interaction with your colleagues. You have to work beyond just what you do to further your own education and musical skills and those of your students."
SPA audition will begin immediately after the closing luncheon and will continue through Saturday, June 3. SPA application blanks are in the Janurary 2006 "Notes and News" which we all receive in the mail from CSMTA.

Notes of Thanks from your President
First, I want to thank Ronnie for taking over the coordination of the Halloween Music Party. I just barely had time to work out the schedule before leaving for New Mexico; so I turned the list over to her and she went from there. We appreciate all who helped in any way. I have heard that the parties went very well.
Second, I want to thank FCMTA for the beautiful flower bowl. The flower is gone now, but the bowl I shall enjoy for a long time. Your thoughts and prayers at the time of my brother's death are very much appreciated. It is not easy being the last one left in the family along with having to settle his estate.

OAKRIDGE ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY recently contacted me to say that their seniors are very isolated and would love visits of any kind. I inquired about the piano, and the reply was that it was "old, but well-tuned and in good working order" I have not personally checked out the piano, but if you are interested in scheduling a recital there, contact Pam at 970-229-5800. Her voice mail is 970-419-2027. They would be very excited to have a group come, and may even provide refreshments, if their budget allows at the time. If you have students who need volunteer hours for IB, this may also be something to pass on to them.

ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP: Natural Piano Center would like to suggest an ensemble workshop for one of your future meetings. We have been contacted by the presenter of this topic. She is a very successful piano teacher from Wyoming, who has demonstrated "An Intro to Ensemble Playing" to the MTNA and uses it in her studio. We would provide the room and the instruments. She promises to explain the benefits of starting an ensemble studio without a huge expense. This would be a hands on learning experience. Let us know if there is any interest in this type of program?

The May minutes were approved as read.
Mary Rudy reported five students received $100.00 scholarships each to attend the CSU summer music camp.
Two thank-you notes were read, one from Erin Schneider for the baby gift. Erin no longer is an active member. The other note was from Kathy Hammer for our having served refreshments at the CSMTA convention in June.
Sidney Thompson reported that the Young Artist auditions have been switched from March to June for this coming year.
Susan Snyderman gave the treasurer's report. The report is available in hard copy from Susan.
A letter was read from Linda Sommer, president of the Greeley association, inviting us to their 40th anniversary celebration. It will be held on September 24, 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. in Ed Beatty Hall on the UNC campus. Refreshments will be served and students will be performing.
Carrie Hansen announced that a local adoption agency has requested four to six music lessons be donated to their silent auction. Members may call Cinda Lopez at 493-2557 if interested.
The program followed, "Highlights of the 2006 CSMTA Convention", presented by Mary Rudy, Veronica Lim, Mary Ann Ranney, Sidney Thompson and Mary Marks.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary G. Rudy, Secretary

We remind all members that we are collecting music to send to teachers affected by Hurricane Katrina.

STAD T-SHIRTS Thank you for your response to this year's design. Due to popular demand, we are placing a second order. Again, a sincere thanks to President Mary Marks whose beautiful calligraphy graced this year's items-I think we all agree that it added a special spark. I will be placing the reorder on Monday, March 6 and turn around will be 1-2 weeks. If you would like to place additional orders, please contact me by phone (225-1679) or email (nikkeitsu@msn.com) by March 5.

Contact Kellee Lotz at 970-226-4035 or www.naturalpiano.com.
